According to page 150 of A Memorial and Biographical History of McLennan, Falls, Bell and Coryell Counties, Texas (The Lewis Publishing Company, Chicago, 1893), “The Fitzhugh Kindergarten, though established only in 1891, promises to be a permanent Waco institution. Its principal is Mrs. H S Fitzhugh, whose enthusiasm for the principles of Frobel is sure to effect excellent results.”
